Would it be wrong to call laziness a disease?

Many are suffering from it but nobody does anything to cure it.

While lazing around definitely keeps one well-rested, it also holds people back from achieving success in work, relationships, business, and countless other aspects of life.

Laziness is also often confused with procrastination. Well, the two terms are neither interchangeable nor are they to be confused with each other.

Procrastination is when you deliberately delay a task at hand to do something else, like browsing your social at work instead of finishing up your tasks.

Laziness, on the other hand, is total inactivity. Lying around doing nothing. Not talking, not using your phone, not watching TV, nothing!

While procrastination may hurt your career, it will not kill it.

Au contraire, laziness keeps people from reaching their full potential.

Why are You Lazy?

Do you ever wonder that your laziness is not actually your fault? That it is something you inherited from your genes?

The fact of the matter is, laziness is not hereditary or habitual.

No matter how much you may want to toss the blame around and away from yourself, the fault lies in you.

Laziness is the direct result of the negative thoughts that you keep feeding your mind.

It is the result of the fear of not being able to control the outcome of your actions.

Say, you’ve been wanting to quit your day job and become an entrepreneur. But the ‘what if my business fails?’ thought constantly nags you whenever you commute or shower or lay in bed. And out of that fear, you don’t take any action.

What about that girl at work or in your apartment building that you’ve always liked but never asked out fearing rejection?

These fears tangle you in a web of thoughts so distracting that rather than taking action, you start avoiding it, unconsciously inviting laziness into your life.

What is the Cure to Laziness?

Is it still unclear?

The only cure to laziness is positive thoughts.

Good or bad, you must stop thinking about the outcome of your actions. So what if your business venture fails? You can always apply for another job.

And what if that girl rejects you? It wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Believe me, you would be happier knowing that you tried.

If you can’t seem to stop thinking about the outcome, you may have to train your mind by imposing positive thoughts on yourself.

You can simply do this by flipping the ‘what if’ scenarios in your head around. Like, ‘what if your business becomes a success?’ Or ‘what if that girl says yes?’

This sudden shift in your thought process would immediately energize you to work toward your goals.

You would feel so energized that you would be waking up early to meet your goals or you might even find yourself working through the late hours of the night.

The change is so effective that you will literally find no time to laze.

Positive thoughts motivate you with enthusiasm, dedication, and focus.

All you have to do is remember the greatness of your goal and how the desired result will impact your life.

The only driving force behind this is training your mind into thinking positively.

Yes, it would require some effort on your part, but if you start doing this today, you would be doing away with laziness in just a matter of few weeks.

And, before you know it, it would completely disappear from your life.
